Tech Week Notes: Act 1 & 2 - MUST READ BEFORE NEXT REHEARSAL

Please read the below notes thoroughly before coming to rehearsal when you are called on Tuesday/Wednesday.

FIDDING COWBOYS, STRING QUARTET, BOB MARLEY BAND, PERMANENTS:  I know you haven't been at rehearsals on stage much and have been working on your own; however, I need you to nail it when you get onstage.  There should be no dead time before or after your performance.  Get on stage, do you thing, then exit confidently.

ALL CAST:  You MUST be at rehearsal when you are needed on Tuesday & Wednesday the WHOLE time.  If you are not at rehearsal Tuesday or Wednesday to rehearse, your act will be cut.  I have been very flexible with conflicts and don't mind, but at this point, you HAVE to be at rehearsals.  This is the last time you will be able to rehearse before you perform, so be there.  Don't ask to leave early.  If I can let you go early, believe me, I will.

BE IN YOUR COSTUME, READY TO GO at 3:30.  Alexander (stage manager) has some notes for you right at 3:30 then we will run Act 1/Act 2 (depending on day) twice (possibly three times).

ALL CAST:  Don't be upstairs in the wings until the act before your act.  The wings get very crowded, and there is not much room behind sight lines.  We have a tv in the green room that shows you what is happening on stage.

ACT 1:
Opening Song:
Elena – you need a side ponytail to match Margo
Elena – Every time you go towards the wings, go in front of curtain, all the way over (this was better the second time we ran this)
Breakfast Club – go center / work on your pose - remember, it's 3 boys in back, and 2 girls in front (cluster of 5)
Ian Friday – walk backwards with your face slanted to us, so we can see your face
Ian & Ian - feel free to be more goofy as your characters -- you're doing great but take it a step further.  Remember, you are cartoons.
Dance Break – nail that pose no matter what -- also work on the dance break (it was better the second time we ran this) / don't forget to laugh as you go off stage

Jacob – add at the very beginning, "Hi, My name is Ferris Buehler.  I hate school."
Thomas – love the face – even bigger, you hate this place (you"re in detention)
Jacob – when you say "a good point there" as you go off – shrug, shake your head, matter of factly so we know it's the end
Thomas – when you do the “Barry Mainlow” line… say that to the audience, don’t look at the teacher
Breakfast Club – after principal leaves, don’t look at the skit – you are just working on paper - in fact, don't make eye contact with the audience at all / stay your characters the whole time
Jacob – don't forget to get the bench after Ella/Lindsay's skit

Kelsey – feel free to dance when you aren’t singing - be Madonna the whole time you are on stage
**SOUND – CUT MATERIAL’S GIRL MUSIC, 1 minute 50 seconds***
**SOUND – PUT JAYE'S MUSIC ON IPOD**

Jaye – don’t stay in the center the whole time as you sing, sing to the whole audience – not just center.  You can even use your hands instead of having them at your side / walk around to stage right / stage left.  You did this – but can do more.  You are singing about a girl who is showing all the other kids that she really is the coolest girl! (cause you are! :) bring that confidence, you got this and sound great!

Janey & Baylie – be louder on “prom speech” before "Enjoy the Show"
Maddie – do you want an amp? do you want a mic?  I think you need to have either both or either.  I like the way it sounds now, but you tell me.

ALL KIDS – if I have blocked you to be center, you have to be center, we marked this with tape on the stage.  Don't forget if you are to split center, make sure that 'x' marking center needs to be between you.

Breakfast Club – come out faster (just as Maddie is ending - we don't want dead space) / everyone in Breakfast Club say "the Breakfast Club" (after Matthew says "Sincerely") with attitude as your character.

*ADD BREAKFAST CLUB MUSIC AFTER THEY LEAVE

Addison/Meera/Ella – have to look like you are interested the whole time you are out there / bring a journal to pretend you are writing love songs/letters - SMILE / and FREEZE once Quinn begins.  Find a place to look (not towards the audience) and hold it

Nolan – get yourself settled and ready to begin while the audience is clapping, so there is no dead space after Quinn

Meera – turn your head to the audience if you can when you sing

ADELICS – put your mouth much closer to the mics
**ADD LET’S GET PHYSICAL TRACK BEFORE BEFORE/AFTER Olivia Newton John

**All students, leave your mics on and don’t touch the headset wires, as they can be pulled out and we can’t save you back in the sound booth.  We can save you and control sound levels ONLY if you have your mic on.  Don't turn it off!!

**CUT MEREDITH’S MUSIC at 1:48
Tech crew will help with piano, Andrew – you rock though, be there just in case

**ADD SUPER MARIO BROTHER MUSIC**
**ADD BEATLES MUSIC**

ACT 2:
Don’t stop Believing – Madeline / Meredith come down stage center – closer to the audience.  Don’t play with the mic until you leave.  Exit with confidence!

CUT DON’T STOP BELIEVING MUSIC

ADD ROCK & ROLL MUSIC BEFORE SOPHIE

Oliver – be louder during song b/c you’re too funny!  If you want to grab a hand-held mic, you can (if you feel you need it but I think you can handle it

Celebrity Apprentice – be louder, all of you!!  Every time you say/sing a line, you have to do it bigger and as your character

**SOUND:  CHOIR MICS need to be on at all times**
ADD MICHAEL JACKSON MUSIC after celebrity apprentice**
Anna - don't forget we are adding in that entrance of the moon walk (b/c you are just so good at it!)

Dancing Cowgirls – be louder on your argument, as soon as you hit the stage start arguing
Oliver – be memorized and please make it so you don’t sound like you are reading it – act it.  You are funny.  Oliver – be center for your monologue.

Bailey – love the dress – but you’ll have to wear a sweater or shrug OR try on the other dress they found for you (which I think personally would be better)

ADD COSBY SHOW MUSIC BEFORE CLAIRE

Bailey – you are front and center – you have to know choreography for “All in this together” or trade with someone who knows this

CUT MAN IN THE MIRROR MUSIC
