PARENT MEETING TONIGHT CANCELED

Hello cast/crew:

Since Wyoming has canceled school today, we have to cancel the parent meeting tonight.  Please stay tuned here on the blog, as I will post some very important documents before our first rehearsal in January, including a detailed schedule and who is in what number.  I am very excited about our cast and crew, and I think we have a very fun and exciting experience ahead!!

PARENT MEETING IS RE-SCHEDULED TO AFTER OUR FIRST REHEARSAL:  MONDAY, JANUARY 3rd FROM 7:00 - 8:00.  I realize that since this was not on the original schedule, there may be conflicts.  That is okay.  Please continue to check the blog, as this will be updated with all the information that you need in order to make this a great experience.  Any directions or instructions will be updated on here, so there is no need to email me unless there is a great concern.

Please tell your students to listen for an announcement from the office, as they will be able to pick up their scripts and cds tomorrow at school.  I would LOVE for all of your students to come back over Christmas break knowing the music and their characters.  It would be even more AMAZING if your child was memorized!  Please encourage them to look over their scripts and cds within their downtime over break.  As I am sure everyone noticed, we only have about 5 weeks to rehearse this musical, so we will really need to hit the ground running in January.

I will collect the $35 contribution at our parent meeting on January 3rd.

ENJOY THE SNOW DAY!
Miss Wilmes

CAST LIST: Mulan Jr.

READ THIS FIRST:
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO AUDITIONED FOR THE WINTER MUSICAL!!  Please know that I had some very tough decisions to make while casting this show.  I am very proud of each child who auditioned, and you should be proud of yourself too!  It takes guts to get up on stage and recite a monologue and sing in front of strangers --- YOU DID A GREAT JOB!!

Please also know that casting a show is a process.  Please PLEASE please do not think that you are not talented if you were not cast in the show or in the role you had wanted.  There are several factors that go into casting on top of considering ability --- not the least which includes age, vocal range, how one might look with other characters on stage, stage presence, conflicts, theater background, projection, memorization skills.... the list continues!!  I have thought long and hard about these casting decisions, and I am confident that these were the right decisions to make for several reasons.  If you were not cast in the show or see yourself in a different role, please try again and audition with every opportunity that presents itself.  I also would encourage each of you to audition for me for the talent show.  I would love to see some familiar faces in the spring.

PLEASE REMEMBER:  If Wyoming has school on Thursday, December 16th, we will have our parent meeting from 6:15 - 7:15.  Please bring your $35 contribution, so you can take home your script and music cd to study over Christmas break.  You can make checks payable to Wyoming Middle School or provide cash.  Please also know that we will be taking head shots tomorrow that will be used for the lobby during show week.  You do not need to come prepared -- just bring your beautiful smile!

If you do not accept your role, please let me know via email by 6:00pm on Thursday.

CALLBACK LIST

Thank you for your interest in the musical theater program at WMS!  I was THRILLED with all of the students who came out to audition.  The student interest, as well as each individual's patience and preparation, was truly noted.  Thank you for making the audition process a success!

Please know that there were over 60 students who auditioned!  I have most of the casting finished; however, there are a few students I would like to see again and invite to callbacks.  Callbacks is similar to a second audition that gives the director the opportunity to see his potential actors and actresses one last time before making the final call on the cast list.  You do not need to prepare anything for callbacks; however, you may be asked to read from the script and sing various songs from the musical.  Come ready to shine!  Do your best and know that you are in the same boat as your peers.  This is the last time you have to 'show me what you got' before I make my final decisions, so bring your A-Game and rock it tomorrow night!

CALLBACKS:  5:30 - 7:30 in the auditorium
You will be asked to sign in and will be brought inside the auditorium in groups.  You may even be allowed to leave early once I see what I need to see in order to make my final decision, so please bring a cell phone to call your parents for an early ride home or bring homework to work on until we finish at 7:30.  You may have down time, so be prepared to quietly work by yourself until you are needed on stage.

PLEASE NOTE:  IF YOU ARE NOT INVITED TO CALLBACKS, THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE NOT CAST IN THE SHOW.  It just means that I do not need to see you audition again.  Please check the blog late Wednesday evening (or very early Thursday morning), as the final cast list will be posted here.  I am only calling back 24 students and plan to cast around 40 students.  Please remember, if you are cast in the show, one parent/guardian plus the student cast needs to be at the parent meeting on Thursday from 6:15-7:15 unless this was on your list of conflicts on your audition sheet.

STUDENTS WHO I WOULD LIKE TO SEE AT CALLBACKS ON WEDNESDAY AT 5:30:
Nolan Morley
Jacob Olausen
Herbert Meisner
Wil Courtney
Josh Beasley
Nathaniel Hipsley
Cooper Simmons

Thank you once again for your support!
