Tech Crew

Thank you for all who auditioned for tech crew. We had several great applicants. Below, you will find the final list of tech crew for the variety show. Please begin attending rehearsals this Wednesday at 5:30. You will be given your responsibilities at our first rehearsal on Wednesday. Please do not forget about our long Saturday rehearsal from 10:00 a 4:00. We need all hands on deck, as Saturday is our last long rehearsal.

Rehearsal Schedule

Students, please remember that you were provided with a list of rehearsal dates before auditioning.  As we are only two weeks from the show, you need to be available for each of those listed.  However, depending on which act you are in, you may not be required to come to all of them.  Please check the list below.  I realize there may be conflicts, but please do whatever you can to be there this week and next.  Below are the acts that I am calling for each rehearsal date.  Please know that EVERYONE will need to be available this SATURDAY, May 5th (except for Permanents, Fiddling Cowboys, and the Teacher Band). 

MONDAY:  ACT 1 4:00 - 6:00  
Act 1 - EVERYTHING BEFORE INTERMISSION (no Intermission Band or String Quartet)
IF YOU ARE ONLY IN Section 3 Love & the 80s, you do not have to be there until 5:00.  Everyone, please plan on staying until 6:00 / we will try to run things as much as possible, as well as give you time to work on things with your group.

WEDNESDAY:  Act 2 6:00 - 8:00

Back to the 80s Talent Show Order

Thank you for auditioning for this year's talent show.  I had several auditionees and was impressed with the level of talent.  I have cast about 100 students in 30 acts, as well as have a team of stage crew students.  Please know that I had some tough decisions, but due to time constraints, I could not cast all of you.  Each of you are MEGA-TALENTED!!  

STAGE CREW ROLES STILL AVAILABLE:

If you were not cast in the talent show, please consider auditioning for the tech crew.  We are still trying to fill a few roles.  If this is an area that you are interested in, please provide a resume and a paragraph explaining why you would like to be a part of the tech crew for the variety show and place it on the theater door by Monday, April 30th at 3:30.  Don't forget to put your contact information (email and phone number) on your resume, so we can contact you for an interview, if needed.  Your resumes will be reviewed, and you may be contacted for an interview that week.

I have posted an additional roles post, a cast upon contingency post, as well as this post describing the talent show order.  We will have rehearsals based mostly on sections, so please pay attention to which section you are in.  If you have two stars next to your act, that means you have been cast upon a contingency.  Please read the contingency list and make sure that you realize that you are cast based on agreeing to the small tweaks I would like to make to your act so you can be in the show.

Ferris Bueller (on stage right): The key to faking out the parents is the clammy hands. It's a good non-specific symptom. A lot of people will tell you that a phony fever is a dead lock, but if you get a nervous mother, you could land in the doctor's office. That's worse than school. What you do is, you fake a stomach cramp, and when you're bent over, moaning and wailing, (confidentally) you lick your palms. It's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school.  I did have a test today. It's on European socialism. I mean, really, what's the point? I'm not European, I don't plan on being European, so who gives a crap if they're socialist? They could be fascist anarchists - that still wouldn't change the fact that I don't own a car. Not that I condone fascism, or any ism for that matter. Isms in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an ism - he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon: "I don't believe in Beatles - I just believe in me." A good point there.

Teacher (on stage left): Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Brian Johnson: Um, he's sick. My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

Teacher: Thank you, Simone.

Brian Johnson: No problem whatsoever.

Teacher: Well, well. Here we are. I want to congratulate you all for being on time.

Claire Standish: Excuse me, sir. I think there's been a mistake. I know we're in detention but I don't think I belong here.

[Vernon ignores her, carrying on with his speech]

TEACHER: It is now 7:06. You have exactly 8 hours and 54 minutes to think about WHY you are here - to ponder the error of your ways. You will not talk... you will now move... from these seat)
TEACHER: [addressing Bender, who has his feet on a chair] And YOU... will not sleep.

[pulls the chair out from under Bender's feet]

TEACHER: All right people, we're going to try something a little different today. We are going to write... an essay... of not less than a thousand words... describing to me who you think you are. And when I say 'ESSAY', I mean 'ESSAY', NOT one word repeated a thousand times. Is that clear, Mr. Bender?

John Bender: Crystal.

TEACHER: Good. You might learn a thing or two about yourself. You might even decide whether or not you'd care to return.

Brian Johnson: Excuse me sir, I can answer that right now. That'd be no.

TEACHER:[contemptuously] Sit down, Johnson.

TEACHER:  My office is right across that hall. Any monkey business is ill-advised. Any questions?

John Bender: Yeah, I have a question. Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardobe?

Hello students!

I wanted to thank you for auditioning for the talent show! There were a lot of talented acts that were presented, and I was impressed with the level of preparedness. Due to a few circumstances out of my control, as well as several tough decisions, I am unable to post the cast list tonight. I take my job of casting very seriously and want to make the best decisions possible. With OAA testing beginning, I urge you all to go to bed and get some rest. Please check the blog for an update Wednesday evening.

You also may rest easily about rehearsals this week. The acts that I will choose are ones that are very prepared; with that said, I feel confident that I will not schedule rehearsals for this week. I need to be conscious of the testing this week, as well as keeping off my feet this week due to my injury. We will hit the ground running next week with a few rehearsals plus our big rehearsal in the auditorium next Saturday.
