TALENT SHOW RULES

AUDITIONS:
Monday, April 18th: 4:30 - 8:00
Tuesday, April 19th: 4:30 - 6:30

Each act must sign up for auditions in advance.  All audition time slots will be available to sign up for beginning April 11th.  All acts must sign up for a specific audition time slot on the Audition Time Slot sign-up sheet that will be located on the auditorium door from April 11th - April 15th.  All acts must sign up for a time slot on the theater door.  **If you are a 7th or 8th grader and also auditioning for an Celebrity Emcee, please put a star next to your name on the Audition Form (please see below).

WHAT DO I NEED TO AUDITION:
  • 3 minute or less polished and show-ready act showcasing your talent (no exceptions)
  • Please come wearing your costume/attire for the variety show to auditions (If you are also auditioning for a Celebrity Emcee, please wear your "Celebrity Look Alike" costume to the audition and bring your other costume to show Miss Cindy)
  • Please bring all props needed for auditions (A piano and cd player will be available for use)
  • Your act must be show-ready at the time of auditions
  • If your act requires music, you must bring a cd with your name/group written on the cd for me to keep.  Please note, you will not get this cd back.
  • One audition form filled out PER GROUP with attached picture of group members and attached sheet of lyrics being performed (if performing a song).  Audition Form will be posted by April 11th.  Please bring this form to your audition.

PLEASE NOTE:  I will be choosing the TOP 30 acts to perform at the variety show.

FAQs:
  • You are responsible for editing your own music.  If you feel like a the lyrics are not appropriate, you will need to substitute in proper lyrics (and include this with your Audition Form).  If you want to perform a re-mix of various songs, you are responsible for providing that music already edited at the time of your audition.
  • Please show your responsibility in choosing an appropriate act to perform.  Please remember that not only will you be performing in front of Miss Cindy, you will be performing in front your parents and teachers.  Please keep this in mind when choosing an appropriate and family-friendly act.

LOOKING FOR 7th & 8th GRADERS:
If you are a 7th or 8th grader who would like to show up at your audition dressed as a celebrity look alike (this could be a local celebrity, people who have been in the news this past year, or even a present day celebrity [be creative!]), I am looking for 7th and 8th graders who would be willing to emcee throughout the show.  Please come prepared with a 30 second monologue/conversation as the celebrity you are dressed as.  Please note that the monologue needs to be from the point of view from the celebrity you are dressed as, not yourself.  Example, if you are Justin Bieber, you could bring your guitar, swing your hair, and talk about your upcoming album or your crazy day at your promotional photo shoot.  Please show up at your regular scheduled audition time - you will have 30 seconds to perform your monologue BEFORE your regular audition. I am looking for several 7th and 8th graders who would be willing to do this.  Please be creative and HAVE FUN!!

MY VISION:
Saturday Night Live is filmed in New York City.  Think of all the characters and mix of talent you might find on the streets of NYC!  I am looking for that kind of variety for this show.  I want each act to be creative and ready to entertain.  Please HAVE FUN!  Please know that I want to include as many students as possible, but I am only choosing the top 30 acts to perform.  With this in mind, please know that not all of these acts will be solo acts.  If possible, it would be smart of you to team up with others, as there are only spots for 30 acts.  This is a VARIETY show, so I am looking for a variety of talents with an SNL twist.

REHEARSALS:
Please keep in mind that we will have rehearsals to piece things together for the variety show (entrances, exits, etc).  The rehearsal schedule will be finalized after the show is cast, but please keep the two weeks before the talent show open.

HAVE FUN!!

ANNOUNCING 2011 VARIETY SHOW....

This year's variety show is called Wyoming Middle Live and will be loosely based on NBC's hit show, Saturday Night Live.  I am looking for a variety of acts with high entertainment value.  Please feel free to add a creative twist and/or comedic timing into each act, as I will be choosing the TOP 30 acts to perform.

NEED SOME IDEAS?:  To take your creativity a step further, feel free take an old SNL skit and add in your own flavor!  Want to see your name in lights?  Perform as a celebrity look alike!  Play an instrument?  Add in a cool yet professional twist and wow us with your talent!

THANK YOU!

Hi gang!

I just wanted to CONGRATULATE you on three great shows!  I have only heard fantastic things, and it is all because of your hard work and your parent's dedication in volunteering.  I am so proud of all of you!  I hope that each of you has enjoyed this journey!  What great fun we have had together!

CAST PARTY:  Due to the 8th grader's Chicago trip this weekend and the fact that we can't get into the auditorium on Thursday night, we have to postpone our video party to the following Thursday, February 24th.  Please stay tuned for details.  More than likely, the party will be from 6:00 - 8:00, but I am still waiting on confirmation.  Joe Kennedy and I talked this morning, and he thinks that we will be okay for next Thursday.  I will keep you posted!

Thank you for the beautiful flowers and the gift card to go shopping!  You all know that I LOVE both of those things!  You all made me cry, for you are so precious to me.  I'm so thankful that we have had the opportunity to share life together lately.  Here's to several more memories to come!

Much love,
Miss Wilmes

SOLD OUT!

We are sold out again for Saturday night!  As of last night, there was a waiting list of 15 people for Saturday's performance.  With that being said, if you have not seen the show, I would encourage you to show up -- but I cannot guarantee any extra seats as of now.  We have placed some extra seats around the auditorium, and we will do our best to accommodate everyone.  However, please know that as of last night, there are 15 people ahead of you.  This is a great problem to have -- but I do understand the disappointment.  Please show up tonight and talk with will call/tickets, and we will go from there.

Can't wait for tonight!  See you at 6:00!
Miss Wilmes

CAST PARTY TONIGHT!

Please see below from our wonderful cast party chair:

Good Morning All!

With the last performance this evening it's time to celebrate the hard work all the cast members, crew members, the Director Miss Cindy, and the parents put in to make this show a SOLD OUT HIT!!!!!!  The Party will be at our home:
532 Chisholm Trail. My cell # is 739-3086 and our home # is 522-9883 (the cell# is a better bet to reach me). The plan is to start the party somewhere around 9:30 (as soon as the kids and volunteers get the costumes all together and whatever they need to clean up, put away, gather up, yada yada, they head to my house!)

The menu will be pizza, drinks, chips/pretzels stuff, fruit and veggies and of course the sheet cake. If there are any leftovers from intermission, rehearsals-tech week, etc. please feel free to bring them and we'll set that out too. Pick up time will be about 11:30ish or what ever time you set with your child. So, drop off your kid, take a few hours to yourself and breath a little easier that you you will no longer have to schlep and sign in to and from rehearsal build, paint, gather, read e-mails, send e-mails and organize lots of stuff...well at least for a little while, the variety show is right around the corner! Enjoy, and well see your kids tonight!

Pamela Meisner (Herbert's mom).
PS., If you have not seen the performance yet, what a wonderful treat you are in for tonight!
