WML ADDITIONAL ROLES

ADDITIONAL ROLES:
As mentioned on the audition sheet, I was looking for some additional group numbers that I wanted to create.   Based on auditions, I have cast these additional numbers/roles to help our transitions into a SNL-themed show.  Please see this list, as you might be in an addition number and/or needed in another part of the show.

<Celebrity Emcee Nolan Morley as Justin Timerblake>
Nolan, please take a look at this monologue from SNL and come up with a one-minute version of this before you play the piano.  You are Justin Timberlake as you play/sing “What Goes Around Comes Around”.

SNL Spiderman skit:
Spiderman, Jacob Olausen
reporter, Taylor Lovejoy
Spiderman is rolled out and is interviewed by reporter, Taylor Lovejoy mimicking the SNL “Weekend Update”

Spartan Cheerleaders Skit from SNL
Roslyn – this script is coming to you

<Celebrity Emcee Maggie Hughes as Taylor Swift>
Maggie, since you sing Taylor Swift’s song with your trio, please come up with a one minute monologue mimicking Taylor Swift from her perspective.  Please dress as her and become her celebrity look-a-like for this number – you are Taylor Swift with your gals as you sing this song.

<WEEKEND UPDATE:  Allie Bower as Seth Myers from SNL>
Allie, I would like you to mimmick SNL’s “Weekend Update” as being the lead reporter.  You will have the following guest stars:

<GUEST STAR:  Stephen Barrett as Justin Bieber>

<GUEST STAR: Herbert Meisner as Charlie Sheen>

Herbert, Stephen, and Allie - I will get a script to you detailing these conversations.  This will be short but will certainly add to the show theme.

SKIT:  Save Broadway
I am adding the “Save Broadway” skit from SNL.  Feel free to check it online, but please know that I will be editing this due to content, as well as adding and removing certain characters.  Please see the list below for the characters I will use for this skit.  If possible, please come up with your own costume for your character.  We will go over this at rehearsal.  You will also be given a script.

For a sneak peek, please go online and watch with a parent’s permission:
PARENTS – please note, there is some language and slightly inappropriate content.  Please know this will be changed for WML.

WML AUDITION FORM

Please click to print

TIME SLOTS

Hello auditioners,

Below you will find the scanned-in version of the list you signed up on in advance for the talent show auditions.  I am hoping that you have already documented and told your parents what time your audition is, but just in case you have forgotten, please look at the scanned-in version below.

PLEASE NOTE:  If you are now unavailable for your time slot, you are responsible for organizing a trade for a time slot.  I cannot manually switch people around who have already signed up.  At this point, if you are not on the list and want to audition OR cannot make it to the time slot you took, you are welcome to show up and wait for an open slot Monday-Tuesday.  It will be first come first serve, if an time slot opens.  You can sign up on the waiting list with my audition helpers during auditions outside of the auditorium, but that does not guarantee an audition.

YOU MUST ARRIVE AT LEAST 10 MINUTES (if not earlier) BEFORE YOUR AUDITION.  If you are late and miss your time slot, you will be asked to sign up on the waiting list.  To make sure this doesn't happen, I would show up early.  We will be running a very tight schedule, as I want to get all students in and out of auditions as quickly as possible and as close to the audition time slot they signed up for.

Thank you!  I look forward to seeing you all on Monday and Tuesday!
Miss Wilmes

TALENT SHOW RULES

AUDITIONS:
Monday, April 18th: 4:30 - 8:00
Tuesday, April 19th: 4:30 - 6:30

Each act must sign up for auditions in advance.  All audition time slots will be available to sign up for beginning April 11th.  All acts must sign up for a specific audition time slot on the Audition Time Slot sign-up sheet that will be located on the auditorium door from April 11th - April 15th.  All acts must sign up for a time slot on the theater door.  **If you are a 7th or 8th grader and also auditioning for an Celebrity Emcee, please put a star next to your name on the Audition Form (please see below).

WHAT DO I NEED TO AUDITION:
  • 3 minute or less polished and show-ready act showcasing your talent (no exceptions)
  • Please come wearing your costume/attire for the variety show to auditions (If you are also auditioning for a Celebrity Emcee, please wear your "Celebrity Look Alike" costume to the audition and bring your other costume to show Miss Cindy)
  • Please bring all props needed for auditions (A piano and cd player will be available for use)
  • Your act must be show-ready at the time of auditions
  • If your act requires music, you must bring a cd with your name/group written on the cd for me to keep.  Please note, you will not get this cd back.
  • One audition form filled out PER GROUP with attached picture of group members and attached sheet of lyrics being performed (if performing a song).  Audition Form will be posted by April 11th.  Please bring this form to your audition.

PLEASE NOTE:  I will be choosing the TOP 30 acts to perform at the variety show.

FAQs:
  • You are responsible for editing your own music.  If you feel like a the lyrics are not appropriate, you will need to substitute in proper lyrics (and include this with your Audition Form).  If you want to perform a re-mix of various songs, you are responsible for providing that music already edited at the time of your audition.
  • Please show your responsibility in choosing an appropriate act to perform.  Please remember that not only will you be performing in front of Miss Cindy, you will be performing in front your parents and teachers.  Please keep this in mind when choosing an appropriate and family-friendly act.

LOOKING FOR 7th & 8th GRADERS:
If you are a 7th or 8th grader who would like to show up at your audition dressed as a celebrity look alike (this could be a local celebrity, people who have been in the news this past year, or even a present day celebrity [be creative!]), I am looking for 7th and 8th graders who would be willing to emcee throughout the show.  Please come prepared with a 30 second monologue/conversation as the celebrity you are dressed as.  Please note that the monologue needs to be from the point of view from the celebrity you are dressed as, not yourself.  Example, if you are Justin Bieber, you could bring your guitar, swing your hair, and talk about your upcoming album or your crazy day at your promotional photo shoot.  Please show up at your regular scheduled audition time - you will have 30 seconds to perform your monologue BEFORE your regular audition. I am looking for several 7th and 8th graders who would be willing to do this.  Please be creative and HAVE FUN!!

MY VISION:
Saturday Night Live is filmed in New York City.  Think of all the characters and mix of talent you might find on the streets of NYC!  I am looking for that kind of variety for this show.  I want each act to be creative and ready to entertain.  Please HAVE FUN!  Please know that I want to include as many students as possible, but I am only choosing the top 30 acts to perform.  With this in mind, please know that not all of these acts will be solo acts.  If possible, it would be smart of you to team up with others, as there are only spots for 30 acts.  This is a VARIETY show, so I am looking for a variety of talents with an SNL twist.

REHEARSALS:
Please keep in mind that we will have rehearsals to piece things together for the variety show (entrances, exits, etc).  The rehearsal schedule will be finalized after the show is cast, but please keep the two weeks before the talent show open.

HAVE FUN!!
Miss Cindy

ANNOUNCING 2011 VARIETY SHOW....

This year's variety show is called Wyoming Middle Live and will be loosely based on NBC's hit show, Saturday Night Live.  I am looking for a variety of acts with high entertainment value.  Please feel free to add a creative twist and/or comedic timing into each act, as I will be choosing the TOP 30 acts to perform.

NEED SOME IDEAS?:  To take your creativity a step further, feel free take an old SNL skit and add in your own flavor!  Want to see your name in lights?  Perform as a celebrity look alike!  Play an instrument?  Add in a cool yet professional twist and wow us with your talent!
